How do I place a Custom Order?

Step One:

Contact us (preferably by email) to give us an overall view of what you would like:

1. Simple Variations

If it's a simple variation on one of the pieces on this web site (different stone or size) we can quote you a price quickly.

2. New Designs

If you would like something more elaborate done, we will need to set up a time to discuss over the phone. This is often a reiterative process, involving design time and research into options on pricing dependent on the metals, stones and execution time for the piece.

3. Repair Services

You may also wish to use our repair service for pieces you already own. In this case, we will need, at the very least, a digital photograph of the piece and a description of the problem. If we feel that we cannot properly diagnose the problem from the photograph, we will ask that you send us the piece.

Step Two : A quote for the work.

After taking all considerations into account, we will quote you a price for the work and secure your agreement on the price.

Step Three : Non-refundable deposit.

On all commissioned work, we require an upfront payment of half the total price of the piece. You may opt to pay online through an invoice from PayPal, call us with a credit card number, or send a cashier's check or money order for this payment. Work begins on your piece once the deposit is received. You will also be notified about the expected completion and delivery date of your order.

Step Four : Your piece is completed.

When your piece is completed you will be billed for the other half of the total price (plus shipping and handling). Your item will be sent when payment is received.

What our customers say :

"I emailed a picture of my family crest to Cathy, and asked if she could make it into a pendant. She responded quickly, and we emailed back and forth quite a few times. She was very helpful in answering questions and giving advice to make sure I got exactly what I wanted. I was very pleased with the final results. To have my own family crest on the pendant makes it a very special one-of-a-kind piece of jewelry!" LKM Concord, CA.

"I am so delighted with the bracelet you sent this week; it is even more spectacular than I imagined--a truly fine piece of jewelry.Your workmanship is exquisite... every detail is so beautifully crafted. And I am thrilled to have a custom fit. It lays so well on the wrist that it is comfortable worn on my writing hand, like no other bracelet I own. Thank you for this wonderful piece of art!" - P. M., Alexandria, VA

"I came back from Kenya with some Kazuri beads, and Cathy made several necklaces, bracelets, and earrings for me. We talked about the people for whom the pieces were intended; then she designed the jewelry. They were all perfect. Such special pieces to give to the women in my family." - S.M., Bowdoinham, ME

"I was really thrilled with what Cathy designed for me. All my Red Hat friends have oohed and aahed over my cloisonne necklace." - Pat Z, Cape Coral, FL

IDEAS

Custom-Designed Grandmother's Ring

I designed this ring as a gift from a daughter to her mother. It contains 5 stones - aquamarine, ruby, peridot, citrine, and turquoise - one for each grandchild. We worked together on the design. Her mother wanted a special ring, but not too fragile - she wanted to be able to wear it every day as well as on special occasions. She also liked the idea of a nature motif -"leaves and vines", as she said. I took her ideas and envisioned the ring as depicting a clearing in the leaves in which the five stones would nestle. I emphasized the heart shapes of the leaves to show the love of a grandmother for her grandchildren.

" I LOVE my ring. Everytime I wear it I have these wonderful discussions; "what a beautiful ring, what are the stones, I have........., " stories and more stories. AND of course I slip in your name and the fun process of designing it." - G.E., New Gloucester, ME
