A young man called me because he wanted to surprise his girlfriend with an engagement ring. He wanted something special - a one of a kind piece that could incorporate a Maine tourmaline he had been given. We worked together over the phone and internet to design a very special ring. He told me about her likes and dislikes and that she didn't like traditional engagement rings, but liked organic, natural shapes. You can see the results. Oh, and by the way, she said yes!

I designed this ring as a gift from a daughter to her mother. It contains 5 stones - aquamarine, ruby, peridot, citrine, and turquoise - one for each grandchild. We worked together on the design. Her mother wanted a special ring, but not too fragile - she wanted to be able to wear it every day as well as on special occasions. She also liked the idea of a nature motif -"leaves and vines", as she said. I took her ideas and envisioned the ring as depicting a clearing in the leaves in which the five stones would nestle. I emphasized the heart shapes of the leaves to show the love of a grandmother for her grandchildren.

Their special day has come and now they are man and wife. The design of the bride's wedding ring incorporated 10 sparkling diamonds given to the groom by his grandmother. I connected them by an unbroken line to symbolize the eternity of their love and to highlight the organic flow of the ring.

"Prior to my wedding my mother gave me several strands of pearls that belonged to my great grandmother, however they had broken or missing clasps, and none of the strands were the right length.
